Outdoor Bonsai — Ulmus minor — Field Elm — Raft Style — Wild Collected — 8+ Years
A truly extraordinary Penjing raft composition — this Ulmus minor (Field Elm) was collected from the wild in 2024 and has been in active clip-and-grow bonsai training since 2025. The tree is 8+ years old and presents as a dramatic multi-trunk raft, with eight or more individual stems rising from a single shared root system, creating the impression of a miniature elm forest emerging from one ancient base.
At 25 cm tall and 30 cm wide, this is a substantial and visually commanding composition. Spring leafing is already well underway, with fresh green foliage bursting from every stem. The scale, movement, and density of this raft planting is exceptional for a collected NZ elm.
Planted in a bold art deco-style red oval pot that frames the composition with real drama. A collector's piece.
